Congratulations on your decision to marry! We, the staff and parishioners of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, are glad to be of service to you. It is our hope and prayer that you have a long and happy marriage.
Because we, as Catholics, believe marriage to be a lifelong commitment with special religious significance, it is important that all couples intending to marry in the Church be prepared for that commitment as adequately as possible. To this end, we ask that you participate in a process of preparation, which will include a number of required activities. This process is described below.
There are specific parish policies concerning the wedding ceremony itself. You will also find below answers to some of the most common questions about weddings in this parish. Please feel free to ask if you need any additionalinformation.
Who is eligible to be married here? Either the bride or groom must be a baptized Catholic and a) be a registered member of the parish; or b) live within the parish boundaries; or c) worship here on a regular basis; or d) have immediate family members who belong to the parish or e) provide a letter of permission from his/her proper parish. Note that if you once lived in the parish but have moved away and established your own residence somewhere else, you are considered a parishioner of your own local parish.
Those coming from outside the parish to marry here must ordinarily be prepared for marriage by a priest or deacon from their own parish and arrange for either that priest or deacon or some other priest or deacon from outside the parish to witness their marriage.
