St. Mary's Church is sponsoring the widely-acclaimed movie, MARY OF NAZARETH, to be shown in early May. This is an epic new motion picture on the life of Mary from her childhood through the Resurrection of Jesus. Information about the movie may be found at www.maryfilm.com.
The movie will be shown at the CineLux Plaza Theatre (across from St. Lucy's on Winchester) at these three times:
May 5 (Monday) at 4:00 p.m.
May 7 (Wednesday) at 4:00 p.m.
May 8 (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10 each and will be on sale after all Masses on April 26/27 and May 3/4. Tickets are pre-sold and will not be sold at the door. They cannot not be purchased from the theatre.
While the movie is not rated, Parental Guidance is advised. Parents need to be aware that some scenes may be too intense for their children, such as the murder of the innocents by King Herod as well as the crucifixion scenes. For these reasons, the filmmakers do not advise viewing by children younger than pre-teens.
St. Mary's has partnered with CineLux Theatre to show the film at a very low cost. We are being charged only $25 per screening and we keep the entire proceeds from the $10 cost for the ticket.
The profit from ticket sales will be used to fund the artwork of Mary as the centerpiece for the new paver entryway in front of the church. The artist designing this special feature is the same artist who created the artwork in the center of the courtyard.
You will therefore have an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful film and also have the chance to contribute to a timeless piece of art at St. Mary's Church.
